The interview

After I filled out the "First application" AIFS called me and told that I´ll have an interview with them. One day later my interviewer contact me to arrange a meeting for the interview.
By the way something I really like about AIFS is that they always contact you directly, that´s why I really felt good with them during the preparation time and I think I´ll keep this feeling in the US.
Two weeks after my interviewer contacts me we meet. I was extremely excited before the interview starts. But I had luck, the woman who did the interview was really nice and made me feel comfortable.
The first part of the interview was without my parents and the most questions were in English, but don´t get nervous about that fact, the questions are really easy. I prepared myself for the interview really well. To help you with your interview → here are a few example questions:
  • Why do you want to do an exchange year? (Don´t say "I want to improve my English". Be creative and find your own, unique answer.)
  • How would you deal with problems during your exchange e.g. you lose the key of your locker?
Don´t get crazy if your interviewer write down your answers. He/she needs to do that for giving the best reference about you as possible to the organization.

At the end she asked which placements I prefer e.g. if I prefer to live on the countryside or in the city. For a half hour my parents came and we were informed about the program and the next steps.
After the interview your year will start๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜„
